Job Summary

You will own the Student Media social media presence, coordinating with editors to promote news, sports, features, and events while monitoring engagement and shaping growth in a fast-paced newsroom.

Own social media strategy and execution across multiple platforms.
Collaborate with editors and staff to highlight content and campaigns.
Analyze performance data and adjust tactics to drive audience growth.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Manage Student Media social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms.
Create, schedule, and publish content that promotes Student Media products and events.
Coordinate with editors and staff to highlight news, sports, features, and multimedia content.
Monitor engagement, analyze performance, and recommend strategies for audience growth.
Attend editorial meetings and assist with promotional campaigns and live event coverage.
Maintain regular office hours as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be enrolled as a University of Wyoming student.
Experience with major social media platforms and digital content creation.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively in a newsroom environment.
Familiarity with social media analytics and graphic or video editing software preferred.
Working knowledge of AP Style or willingness to learn.
Attention to detail and ability to identify errors and inconsistencies.
Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Prior experience in journalism, editing, student media, or related coursework is preferred but not required.
