Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Position the organization as the preeminent organization for girls and young women grades K-12 among key target audiences. Cultivate and steward strong external relationships with industry professionals and vendors.
  • Develop compelling brand and data-driven stories and consumer campaigns that resonate with target audiences
  • Drive brand development and storytelling across channels
  • Build a broad understanding of the Girl Scouts program in order to demonstrate expertise with the media
  • Understand and interpret how Girl Scouts benefits girls and address this knowledge in marketing, events, brand and communications strategies
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with other organizations and individuals as related to marketing, events, brand and communications strategies
  • Utilize expertise and experience to manage, oversee, and align consistent and cohesive GSGLA messaging both internally and externally; and maintain alignment with the GSUSA brand voice.
  • Support Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications and Sr. Manager of Marketing and Communications in developing, managing and executing annual strategic marketing and communications plans for GSGLA to span across all media (traditional/print, digital and broadcast) and reach appropriate target audiences, based upon specific performance goals. Evaluate the success of various strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement
  • Proactively provide innovation across all communication vehicles that GSGLA uses (offline and online) and provide competitive insight into GSGLA communications and branding strategies
  • Lead the broader community of GSGLA as a visionary marketing and communications expert – provide all resources necessary to ensure that the MarComm department, greater GSGLA staff, Girl Scouts and volunteers (when applicable) speak with one voice that demonstrates that the Girl Scouts Movement advocates for girl ambition by supporting all girls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field; Minimum of 5 years demonstrated, progressive experience in marketing, advertising, digital communications, graphic design, writing and communications
  • High proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in Adobe Experience Manager (or similar), HTML and web development/maintenance skills
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MailChimp, Google Analytics (or similar) a plus
  • Excellent editing, proofreading and written and oral communication skills; proficiency in copywriting
  • Outstanding Interpersonal and Communication Skills. Expresses ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner appropriate for the individual or group; listens to and comprehends what others are saying; prepares organized and structured presentations; has demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues and communicate effectively with a diverse group of girls, volunteers, and staff. Excellent selling, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Project Management. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines, formulate short- and long-term project goals, objectives, schedules, and priorities in line with council goals; anticipate issues, obstacles, or opportunities that may impact plans or actions; establish courses of action for accomplishing goals while attending to and incorporating information obtained during day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Excellent independent decision-making skills and strong resourcefulness. Proven record of functioning as a self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight and take initiative; demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, self-management, and organization. Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales.
