Job Description

Responsibilities

Develop and implement communications campaigns through marketing and public and media relations initiatives to increase brand awareness, attract new donors and literacy partners, and promote our events, programs, and initiatives.
Manage and update communication channels, including website, social media, newsletters, and press releases, to reach and engage our target audiences.
Lead and manage staff and volunteers in event planning.
Create and manage event invites and materials, news releases, brand guidelines, and media relations promoting our literacy programming.
Partner with the Volunteer Coordinator in social media initiatives to support communication plans relating to volunteer needs.
Support the Executive Director with donor, sponsor and literacy partner recruitment; the annual fundraiser campaign; and the end-of-year campaign.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, media, and other organizations to collaborate on joint initiatives.
Research community events, meetings, and conferences for brand and mission awareness, and programs and literacy partnership opportunities.
Lead staff and partner meetings and events as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's in communications or marketing with nonprofit management, or related work experience.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in communications, marketing, community engagement, and event planning.
Strong communications, marketing, and public relations skills, with the ability to effectively convey mission, impact and brand to diverse target markets and media contacts.
Strong computer skills, including website maintenance, social media, graphic design, and slide presentations.
Experience working in a multicultural environment and with a wide variety of personality types.
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.to travel to off-site locations in the service area of Outagamie, Waupaca and northern Calumet and Winnebago Counties.
Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends for events and/or training.
Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communications skills in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners.
Self-starter who independently works and contributes with a team.

Preferred

Proficiency in Hmong, Spanish, French, Kiswahili, or Kinyarwanda strongly preferred.
