Job Description

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
Develop and lead the organization's annual and multi-year communications and marketing strategy, aligning messaging with strategic priorities, grant deliverables, and enrollment and placement targets.
Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership on public positioning, message framing, and reputational risk.
Own the organization's brand strategy and ensure consistency across all internal and external materials, including alignment with funder and workforce board visual identity requirements where applicable.
Set annual goals and KPIs for the communications function and report progress.
Content & Storytelling
Oversee the development of press releases, newsletters, annual reports, grant-related success stories, talking points, and web/social content that highlight participant and employer outcomes.
Guide staff in interviewing program participants, alumni, and employer partners to build a pipeline of human-interest stories for use in fundraising, advocacy, and public relations.
Oversee photography and video production for campaigns, funder reports, and flagship events
Digital & Brand Strategy

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within a nonprofit, workforce development, education, or public-sector setting
Demonstrated success developing and executing organization-wide communications strategy, with strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats.
Experience serving as a media spokesperson and managing press relationships.
Track record of managing budgets, vendors, and staff or direct reports.
Proficiency with digital marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Mailchimp, Google Analytics), social media management, and design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).

Preferred

Experience working with workforce development boards, community colleges, employer partners, or job training programs.
Familiarity with grant reporting requirements from public funders (e.g., WIOA, state workforce agencies, foundations).
Experience serving on a senior leadership team and reporting to a Board of Directors.
Bilingual or multilingual skills relevant to the communities served.
