Responsibilities

• Oversee the College’s social media accounts and calendar, develop engaging content based on strategy and the College brand
• Serve as primary point of contact for the social media accounts of Connecticut College, responding to inquiries from internal and external audiences
• Run reports and use data to inform social media strategy
• Work alongside the Social Media Content Creator (Video) to develop engaging video content
• Supervise and lead digital content interns
• Act as the primary community manager for the main social media accounts of Connecticut College.
• Monitor College-related conversations on social media and respond in a timely manner and as appropriate. Identify and alert the Director of Digital Marketing and key administrators to potential crises. Track, report and advise on social media crises and their impact on the College’s accounts.
• Research and conceptualize content ideas for social and digital media; write copy; create audio, photographic, video and other multimedia content. Develop engaging content based on the social media strategy and the College brand. Increase engagement across all social channels.
• Work closely with the Social Media Content Creator (Video) to plan and develop engaging content.
• Lead and manage digital content interns, including student writers and content creators. Lead weekly meetings with the interns.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or digital content field, such as filmography
• 3-5 years of experience in social media
• Proficiency with design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of online social media tools
• Basic photography and videography skills required
• Demonstrated problem-solver with strong critical thinking skills
• Comfort with technology and data management
• High integrity and professionalism
• Able to work gracefully under pressure, plan and accomplish goals

Preferred

• Proficiency with Sprout Social or similar social media scheduling/monitoring tools
• Experience in higher education
