Job Summary

Own the end-to-end event pipeline and related integrations across Segment and downstream tools, shaping data contracts, identity resolution, and measurement.

  • Define event contracts and schema standards with product and data teams.
  • Own the identity model and ensure accurate audience delivery across sources.
  • Lead integrations and data governance to control cost and ensure data integrity.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Event Stream Ownership (Segment → Downstream): Own the event pipeline from Segment through all downstream MarTech destinations — Braze, Amplitude, Snowflake, AppsFlyer, and ad platforms. Own destination configuration, transformations, audience sync, and delivery reliability. Contribute to the evolution toward Segment as the single source of truth, including facade/proxy service patterns that decouple product code from destination-specific logic.
  • Upstream Partnership & Event Contracts: Work closely with product and data engineering teams across Topps, Collect, and Live to influence how events arrive in Segment. Define event contracts and schema standards, review instrumentation changes, and validate that payloads emitted by web, mobile, and backend systems are correct and complete before they enter the pipeline.
  • Identity Resolution: Own the identity model within Segment and downstream destinations — ensuring users are consistently and correctly resolved across event sources so that audiences, attribution, and lifecycle messaging reach the right person.
  • Lifecycle & Engagement Integrations: Implement and maintain Braze integrations, including audience sync, catalog/data feeds, and event-triggered messaging. Validate triggers, rendering, and data flows. Partner with lifecycle marketing to translate campaign requirements into reliable implementations.
  • Attribution & Measurement: Own AppsFlyer configuration and mobile attribution, UTM and web attribution integrity, and the downstream routing that lets us measure which channels drive acquisition.
  • Data Governance & Cost Control: Establish event schema standards, naming conventions, and QA gates. Audit and manage destination configuration, event volume, and platform spend across the stack.
  • The salary range represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation.
  • NYC Salary Range $160,000 — $200,000 USD

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on integrating third-party platforms and SDKs within complex ecosystems.
  • Strong SQL — able to independently validate data end to end, from raw event streams to warehouse tables.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with at least 2–3 of: Segment (or another CDP such as mParticle), Braze (or Iterable/Klaviyo/SFMC), Amplitude, Snowflake, AppsFlyer (or another MMP). Direct experience with competitor tools in each category counts.
  • Working knowledge of web and/or mobile client technologies (React/NextJS, Swift, or Kotlin) — enough to review instrumentation, understand SDK behavior within application lifecycles, and partner credibly with product engineers.
  • Expertise in event-driven architecture, data instrumentation, and payload validation.
  • Proven track record troubleshooting distributed systems and ensuring data integrity across multiple platforms.
  • Exceptional communication skills — able to translate marketing and growth requirements into technical specifications, influence engineering teams you don't manage, and push back with data when requirements conflict with sound architecture.

Preferred

  • Experience designing or operating an event facade/proxy service in front of a CDP.
  • CDP governance at scale, including event volume and cost optimization.
  • Identity resolution across multiple user ID systems (e.g., auth IDs, commerce platform IDs, device IDs).
  • Experience in e-commerce or gaming, where real-time engagement and high-volume event flows are critical.
  • A/B testing and experimentation platform experience.
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience spanning Product, Marketing, and Engineering.
