Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the implementation of a community-wide substance use prevention coalition in Sterling Heights.
• Recruit active sector representatives to mobilize community-specific workplan, in accordance with the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program.
• Market evidence-based substance use prevention strategies to schools, community groups, and faith-based organizations located in assigned community.
• Execute the workplan goals and objectives as outlined in the DFC continuation application.
• Facilitate evidence-based programming in schools and other community-based settings, as needed.
• Provide presentations on general substance use issues and evidence-based community change models to the coalitions and broader community, as needed.
• Disseminate substance use information at health and public fairs, school open houses and other community events as requested.
• Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including evening and weekend hours.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Must possess knowledge and understanding of the Strategic Prevention Framework, Recovery Oriented System of Care, and Trauma Informed Services.
• High School/GED required.
• Must be certified as a Prevention Consultant or Prevention Specialist (CPC-R or CPS) or be eligible for a registered development plan and be timely in its implementation upon hire.
• Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.
