Job Description

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the department director and the direct supervisor, develop and update annual marketing plan to promote the department’s programs and special events, defining the appropriate strategies and tactics to reach the multiple audiences served by the department.
  • Establishes and maintains the department’s website and social media presence, ensuring adherence to professional standards and Town’s Social Media Policy; monitor multiple social media pages to ensure information is consistent and professionally presented; advise other department staff on the best use of social media.
  • Designs and produces promotional materials for the events and programs; composes materials and edits information from others for marketing documents; assures consistent look for materials; reviews and approves marketing and communication materials developed by colleagues to ensure they meet the department’s brand and graphic standards.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence and evaluations; assists with budget preparation and finances; keeps records of all expenses and monitors budget allocations.
  • Works on special projects as assigned such as new departmental campaigns, new programs, and accreditation process.
  • Provides support to other staff as needed. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Have bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Have a valid driver’s license in the state of North Carolina
  • Be proficient with Desktop Publishing (Adobe Creative Suites) and MS Office.
  • Have a CPR and/or First Aid certification or be able to obtain within 6 months, training will be provided for the selected candidate if needed.

Preferred

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in planning, marketing, promotions, graphic design, website management, sponsorships, and advertisements related to special events and recreation programming strongly preferred.
