POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Communication Specialist I to the team! This position will be responsible for assisting in the management of the Park & Recreation Department’s social media pages, gathering and creating marketing content, and responding to citizen inquiries. The incumbent will also assist in managing internal and external communications regarding the department’s programs and service offerings and creating promotional materials, such as brochures, inserts and newsletters. The successful candidate will have experience in social media management as well as a strong understanding of communication trends and best practices. This part-time position will work a flexible schedule of up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekdays, evenings, and weekends as needed based on business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of public relations, communications, or related experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications or directly related field
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes
Licenses/Certifications: May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges
Computer Skills: Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
