Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Content Execution & Editorial Support, drafts, and edits light content for digital channels including newsletters, social media captions, media briefs, and internal marketing reports.
  • Assists with uploading and tagging content to digital platforms and reviews messaging for cultural relevance, grammar, and brand consistency.
  • Media Performance & Return of Investment tracking collects and compiles campaign performance data from agencies.
  • Identifies key metrics (e.g., impressions, clicks, engagement), supports internal reporting, and flags areas for improvement or optimization based on analytics.
  • Cross- Departmental coordination will collaborate with departments including Economic Development, Airport, Bridge, and Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) to align marketing messaging and promotional materials.
  • Will be required to attend interdepartmental meetings and ensures consistent branding across divisions.
  • Collaborates with creative teams to review and develop deliverables, including design mockups, brochures, social media graphics, and promotional videos.
  • Provides timely feedback to agencies and supports the Director in ensuring messaging aligns with Port Laredo’s International brand vision.
  • Occasionally assists with light edits using tools like Canva or Adobe Express.
  • Provides public relations and stakeholder support by assisting in the preparation and coordination of media announcements, press releases, and stakeholder outreach in collaboration with communications consultants and department leadership.
  • Supports the execution of marketing events such as trade shows, press conferences, and community engagements.
  • Assists in material preparation, logistics coordination, and on-site representation when needed.
  • Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field.
  • At least two (2) years of marketing experience. Experience in communications is preferred.
  • Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.).
  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • Background check and certified school transcripts will be required for all applicants who are offered employment.
  • Must undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment; random drug and alcohol testing for safety-sensitive positions.

Preferred

  • Experience in communications is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Canva or Adobe Express (when applicable).
  • Familiarity with digital marketing analytics and reporting tools.
