Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of end-to-end creative strategies that support Caterpillar's eCommerce and digital marketing objectives, from concept development through final delivery, establishing feedback loops that turn creative testing outcomes and campaign insights into scalable best practices.
  • Serve as both a creative leader and hands-on contributor, providing art direction while directly designing, developing, and refining creative assets to support business priorities, accelerate project delivery, and maintain quality standards across marketing channels.
  • Establish and evolve scalable creative processes, workflows, and governance models that improve efficiency, increase production capacity, and enable consistent delivery of high-quality creative assets across channels.
  • Partner with marketing teams, business stakeholders, agencies, and production partners to define creative direction, develop briefs, prioritize initiatives, and ensure successful execution of integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Serve as a steward of the Cat brand, providing strategic guidance and quality oversight to ensure creative assets maintain a consistent visual identity, voice, and messaging framework while meeting the unique needs of individual campaigns and channels.
  • Direct and oversee the creation of marketing content for Cat-led and Dealer-led initiatives across a variety of formats and channels including paid media, email, video, photography, graphics, copy, and emerging media experiences that support customer engagement and business growth.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new creative technologies and collaboration tools that enhance creative capabilities, improve operational effectiveness, and support innovation and testing at scale.
  • Champion a culture of creative excellence, experimentation, and continuous improvement by leveraging performance insights, documenting creative testing insights, and applying learnings to strengthen future marketing initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, and creative partners, ensuring deliverables meet quality expectations, timelines, budgets, and strategic objectives.

  • Digital Marketing: Deep knowledge of digital marketing channels, creative testing best practices, with the ability to develop channel-specific creative strategies that improve customer engagement and business outcomes.
  • Effective Communications: Proficient in communicating creative vision, rationale, and performance insights to stakeholders across business and technical teams, building alignment and influencing decision-making at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of creative technologies, design tools, digital production workflows, and emerging AI-enabled solutions, with the ability to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability through technology adoption and process innovation.
  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Experience leading relationships with creative agencies, production partners, freelancers, and suppliers, ensuring quality deliverables, effective collaboration, budget stewardship, and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Project Management: Expertise in leading complex creative initiatives from intake and concept development through production and final delivery; ability to establish scalable processes, prioritize resources, manage competing demands, and ensure timely execution of creative work.
  • Creative Direction: Expertise in creative leadership, brand stewardship, and visual storytelling, with the ability to establish creative standards, provide art direction, guide cross-functional teams, and translate business objectives into compelling customer experiences.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a large, matrixed organization
  • A current portfolio that can be viewed when applying
  • Proven ability to lead end-to-end creative strategy and execution, including concept development, art direction, and content production
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise across a variety of creative disciplines
  • Experience balancing strategic leadership with hands-on creative production
  • Experience building, documenting, and scaling creative processes, governance models, and operational frameworks
  • Experience using data to inform creative decision-making
  • Exposure to multi-country or multi-market creative marketing strategies
  • Experience managing vendors, agencies, and production partners
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field.
