Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Review MTA's existing communications channels and establish consistent branding, administrative controls, and publishing processes.
  • Reactivate our established Facebook audience of approximately 3,100 followers with a planned and consistent posting schedule.
  • Strengthen LinkedIn as MTA's business-to-business platform and align branding and links across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and mstrucking.org.
  • Develop a content calendar of three to four posts per week featuring MTA events, safety programs, advocacy, member stories, and industry news.
  • Help define and maintain a consistent MTA voice, look, and message across social media, the website, email, print materials, and events.
  • Create timely written, graphic, photo, and short-form video content that showcases MTA members, programs, events, and the trucking industry.
  • Attend events and member visits to capture content, including occasional overnight, evening, and weekend assignments.
  • Manage email communications, newsletters, announcements, and day-to-day online engagement.
  • Maintain basic website content and search engine optimization to improve visibility.
  • Track posting consistency, audience growth, engagement, website traffic, and email performance in a monthly dashboard.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • A recent graduate or early-career professional who is ready to take ownership, learn quickly, and build a broad range of skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with a good eye for design and engaging content.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud, social media platforms, website content systems, email marketing software, photography, or video editing. Applicants are not expected to have mastered every platform.
  • The ability to organize multiple projects, work from a content calendar, meet deadlines, and represent MTA professionally.
  • A portfolio or collection of work from college projects, internships, volunteer activities, freelance assignments, or previous employment.
  • Interest in trucking, transportation, associations, or business-to-business communications is helpful but not required.
