Drive marketing, sponsorship, and business development for the City of Laredo sports complex as a supervisor responsible for events, partnerships, and revenue growth.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes comprehensive marketing campaigns, manage the branding, social media, website content, advertising and public relations efforts.
  • Promotes tournaments, leagues, and community programs at the sports complex.
  • Executes strategies to increase facility revenue, and new revenue sources.
  • Pursues business development opportunities, including sponsorships, advertising sales, partnerships, event rentals.
  • Assists in working with tournament directors, local leagues, and regional sports organizations to attract and support events.
  • Performs other responsibilities, administrative and planning duties, as required.
  • Good communication between staff, visitors and other business contacts.
  • Follow up rules or telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.
  • Prepares marketing budgets, tracking Return on Investment, maintaining sponsorship and revenue data, preparing reports for management or Council.
  • Schedules and assigns shifts for concession and maintenance staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited* college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Recreational Management, or related fields.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in Municipal, nonprofit, marketing, sports facility operations, or related experience.
  • Council of Higher Education Accreditation (C.H.E.A.)
  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.

  • Knowledge of sports tourism, recreation marketing and management practices.
  • Knowledge of principles of marketing, branding, and promotion.

  • Knowledge of networking and relationship-building, along with public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of cash handling, procedures and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of food safety and customer service.

Preferred

  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
