Communications Specialist

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and executes Del-Co Water's communications activities and supports the implementation of the organization's overall communications strategy
• Content creation, website and social media management, member communications, community outreach, and implementation of approved communications campaigns
• Works independently on assigned projects, collaborates with departments, and supports leadership in maintaining consistent, timely, and professional communications
• Support the development and implementation of Del-Co Water's comprehensive communications strategy, including a proactive communications calendar across all channels and audiences
• Maintain and apply Del-Co's brand, visual identity standards, and messaging framework
• Monitor communications program effectiveness through measurable metrics and member feedback; identify opportunities and recommend improvements
• Assist in managing relationships with external communications vendors and partners
• Write, edit, and produce content across Del-Co's communications channels, including social media, digital newsletters, bill inserts, website, and internal communications
• Develop compelling member stories, employee spotlights, and community narratives
• Translate complex technical topics into clear language for a general audience

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Three years’ experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field
• An Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Public Administration, or a closely related field is preferred
• Experience drafting press releases and supporting relationships with the media
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, design tools, and digital marketing platforms
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify communications needs and support initiatives that align with organizational goals
• Creative approach to communications, with the ability to develop content for diverse audiences
• Knowledge of and experience with crisis communications planning and execution
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Public Administration, or a closely related field is preferred
• Experience in water utilities, municipal government, or environmental nonprofits is preferred
• Experience with photography, video production, or multimedia content creation is preferred
