Job Description 

The Accounting Manager is a key member of the finance team for this Eastside professional services firm of approximately 40 employees. The company is an industry leader in the Pacific Northwest. This role reports directly to the Director of Finance and is expected to take full ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting through strong attention to detail, accountability, and proactive management of deadlines and priorities.  Additionally, this role will provide   day-to-day leadership, oversight, coaching, and accountability for the AR/AP accounting staff.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with proven leadership and communication skills. This position requires a leader who can effectively manage workflows, prioritize team responsibilities, develop employees, and foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment. 

Responsibilities: 

• Monthly client billing reporting and revenue reports, including special client reporting 

• Weekly media order reporting 

• Provide AP reports for approval 

• Monthly AP check run review and payment disbursement 

• Bank deposits and cash applications 

• Digital credit card transaction entry 

• Bank, credit card, and CSI reconciliations 

• Miscellaneous ad hoc reporting and reconciliations 

• GL maintenance and preparation of recurring journal entries 

• Revenue share accrual, disbursement, and reporting 

• Analysis to aid the company’s cash flow and profitability 

• Quarterly and annual assistance with budget planning and forecasting 

• Monthly use tax preparation 

• Assistance with year-end close and tax preparation 

• Annual state unclaimed property reporting 

• Annual state business personal property tax reporting 

• Execute timely monthly and annual close of books 

• Support tax preparer coordination 

• 401(k) accounting and compliance 

• Vendor support for 1099 preparation 

Leadership & Team Management Responsibilities: 

• Provide direct supervision, support, and accountability for AR/AP accounting staff 

• Manage workloads and priorities across the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate completion of work 

• Coach, mentor, and develop team members through ongoing feedback and support 

• Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented, and high-performing team culture 

• Partner closely with the Director of Finance to improve processes, communication, and operational efficiency 

• Support employee development, onboarding, and training initiatives within the accounting function 

General Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 

• Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within professional services 

• Minimum of three years of direct people leadership or accounting supervisory experience required 

• Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing employees in a fast-paced environment 

• Media industry experience preferred 

• Strong analytical skills and business judgment 

• Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and pivot tables 

• Experience using Advantage Accounting Software or similar ERP systems 

• Ability to effectively prioritize, delegate, and manage competing deadlines 

• Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills 

• Ability to build strong working relationships across teams and departments 

Compensation 

This is a salaried position. Compensation will depend on qualifications, with an anticipated salary range of $85,000–$95,000.
