  • Lead the annual planning strategy
  • Orchestrate enterprise alignment
  • Guide investment and trade-offs

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Annual Planning Strategy: Develop the overarching annual marketing strategy that translates enterprise ambitions into a clear role for marketing, a focused set of strategic choices, measurable goals and a coordinated enterprise plan.
  • Build an Enterprise-Informed Strategic Point of View: Synthesize cultural, industry, business, and consumer context into a distinctive point of view on where marketing can create the greatest impact.
  • Set Measurable Goals from the Strategy: Translate the annual planning strategy into specific, measurable outcomes for marketing. Define the goals and success measures that guide planning, enable accountability, and create a shared filter for evaluating progress and optimizing against.
  • Orchestrate Enterprise Alignment and Adoption: Partner across the enterprise to shape, communicate, and activate the strategy. Establish the planning cadence, forums, and narratives that build understanding that ultimately enables teams to translate the strategy into connected plans.
  • Create the Conditions for Strategy-First Thinking to Ignite Bolder Ideas: Set the bar for what a strong plan looks like and hold teams accountable to the strategic choices and goals. Build intentional collaboration that pressure-tests ideas while giving teams the latitude to create a connected year of moments and initiatives rather than a single, prescribed campaign.
  • Guide Investment and Strategic Trade-offs: Use the strategy and measurable goals to assess opportunities, recommend where marketing should invest, and make trade-offs transparent. Apply consistent criteria such as opportunity size, guest and business impact, distinctiveness, feasibility, and expected contribution to the outcomes marketing owns.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience; Marketing or Business emphasis preferred; MBA a plus.
  • 8-10+ years of related experience developing enterprise marketing strategies and leading annual or strategic planning processes within a large, complex organization.
  • Proven ability to synthesize consumer, cultural, industry, business, and performance insights into a strategic point of view that informs enterprise marketing priorities, measurable goals, and accountable plans.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to connect strategy to growth outcomes, size opportunities, establish meaningful measures of success, and guide investment trade-offs with Finance and executive leadership.
  • Skilled at reading and adapting to different stakeholders — able to hold the same strategic point of view while framing it differently for Finance, Merchandising, Creative, and executive audiences with different incentives.
  • Comfortable creating structure in ambiguity: designing the process itself (calendar, briefs, working sessions, decision points) rather than simply operating within one someone else built.

Preferred

  • MBA a plus
