Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Promote the Boulder Chamber’s annual Signature Events (currently eight, subject to change) and Impact Programs across digital, print, and local media.
  • Direct and approve multi-channel campaigns — built and executed by our marketing partners — to maximize registration, ticket sales, affinity/member perks, and attendance for each event and program. Review the performance of each event and program from a marketing perspective, debrief, and incorporate learnings into the following year's marketing calendar.
  • Direct and participate in building dedicated landing pages, registration pipelines, and automated email workflows for all events and programs — hosted by our marketing partners, with this role setting requirements and approving final output.
  • Develop sponsorship fulfillment assets and the sponsor narrative alongside the Membership team, using audience and performance data from our marketing partners to deliver clear, provable ROI to sponsors, investors, and corporate partners.
  • Manage disaster and emergency communications alongside the CEO and AVP of Economic Impact Programs — directing message content and timing while our marketing partners execute the sends — including external websites and other materials, in collaboration with Disaster Response leadership and other external communications partners.
  • Work with other external communications partners on major local and regional activities — such as the Sundance Film Festival and Northwest Chamber Alliance — including shared websites and joint communications.
  • Support every Signature Event and other programs with marketing assistance; including content, promotional materials, and campaign execution. Participate in sponsorship review and coordination.
  • Design and draft all public-facing copy — press releases, social media and newsletter content, executive talking points, advocacy statements, and annual reports — in collaboration with external contractors and the relevant department head.
  • Participate in producing digital content — blog entries and multimedia assets — that tells the story of member and community impact; review, edit, and approve the member newsletter drafted by our marketing partners.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for local Boulder journalists — managing press lists, scheduling, and outreach — while the CEO, Policy/Advocacy team, and other Leadership Team experts serve as the organization's public-facing spokespeople.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or a related field required, or equivalent professional experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 8-12 years of progressive marketing and communications experience, ideally within a chamber of commerce, trade association, or B2B non-profit environment.
  • Publication & Report Writing: Proven track record of managing and producing long-form publications and other ongoing communications and marketing materials from concept and drafting/writing to print, including newsletters, press releases, website material, annual business updates and/or grant-funded impact reports.
  • Project Management Mastery: Advanced expertise using project management tools, preferably Airtable , GrowthZone , including building relational databases, creating automated workflows, managing the calendar, and designing interface dashboards for project tracking.
  • Contractor & Budget Ownership: 3+ years of experience contributing to and managing a marketing/communications department budget and managing external creative agencies or freelancers.
  • Executive Presence: Confident presentation skills, with experience delivering data, analytics, and ROI reports to Leadership and comfort stepping into speaking opportunities in front of senior executives.
  • Tools & Design: Working familiarity with email automation platforms and WordPress CMS, sufficient to direct and evaluate a marketing partner's output, plus hands-on, day-to-day administration of membership CRMs (GrowthZone), plus hands-on proficiency with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of graphic design principles (layout, typography, brand consistency), sufficient to produce or closely direct polished sponsor decks, event collateral, and publication layouts.
