Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Technical Strategy: Define technical strategy within the Klaviyo backend and execute to improve the area\'s architecture, products, infrastructure, and processes.
  • Platform Roadmap: Define the technical vision and architectural roadmap for the platform, ensuring upgrades and dependency management align with scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Dependency Management: Lead efforts to analyze and optimize backend and third-party dependencies, ensuring security, performance, and reliability with risk frameworks.
  • Platform Upgrades and Rollouts: Oversee planning and seamless rollout of major software releases, managing design to production deployment with strong individual contributions.
  • Developer Productivity: Drive initiatives to improve platform cycle time metrics, reduce toil, and increase engineering efficiency across repos.
  • Mentorship: Mentor engineers, primarily lead and senior levels, helping others develop essential skills within the organization.
  • Problem Solving and Reliability: Act as go-to expert for diagnosing complex performance and reliability issues and implement proactive monitoring and telemetry.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product, security, hardware, and other stakeholders to align requirements and ensure project coherence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging technologies and practices to improve systems and internal processes.
