Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction, guidance, and assistance to staff responsible for key functions of section responsibilities, business processes, and external outreach activities for employees who speak publicly about CSD operations and services.
  • Directs, plans, and organizes all section activities, including recruiting, hiring, and staffing; develops management objectives, performance standards, and staff goals; and supervises creative media designers and the information specialist through coaching, standards setting, and performance review.
  • Performs advanced, senior-level technical writing work. Work involves coordinating the composition, organization, and editing of compiled information to meet the needs of various audience types for both internal and external customers.
  • Preserves and oversees the Division’s editorial standards and ensures all printed and digital materials— including publications, videos, graphics, web content, and outreach materials—meet required accessibility, readability, design, and quality standards through comprehensive review, editing, and approval processes.
  • Recommends messaging strategy and communication plans in coordination with necessary stakeholders that adheres to external facing communication per governance structure to achieve necessary approvals.
  • Use of clear and compelling communication, in both written and oral communication (e.g. video script development, customer brochures, social media postings, drafting of press releases).
  • Oversees the creation and review of plain language publications, videos, flyers, infographics, SharePoint pages, and website updates.
  • Leads content intake, prioritization, project planning, and workflow design, including the establishment of approval checkpoints and processes that ensure readability, tone consistency, and content quality.
  • Oversees project execution and quality assurance activities and conducts post mortems to continuously improve workflows, templates, and overall communication practices.
  • Assess and escalate risk, sensitive topics, or potential media implications before a response is provided by agency officials.
