Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a member of the FJJMA Leadership Team, manages the marketing strategies, marketing communications, public relations activities, and any activities associated with the development and promotion of marketing and public relations, published materials, campaigns, and projects.
  • Responsible for planning and managing a contemporary, comprehensive, and proactive marketing and communications strategy.
  • Leads others in brainstorming, strategy, content creation, community management, reporting, and analysis.
  • Oversees all communications, including but not limited to print, spoken, electronic, and social media, by creating compelling and dynamic content.
  • Manages the creation of visual assets to ensure the museum’s strategic priorities are communicated well.
  • Directs advertising campaigns to include negotiating ad buys and other marketing pieces.
  • Assists in the formulation, interpretation, and evaluation of policies and procedures.
  • Supervises staff, to include but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating performance, and discipline.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 48 months in marketing, public relations, communications or related experience.
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months related experience.

Preferred

  • Deliver the Marketing and Communications components of the Museum’s new Strategic Plan, with a focus on building a new visual brand
  • Create an integrated marketing campaign
  • Expand the Museum’s social media presence and impact
  • Help to increase visitor numbers and strengthen the Museum’s financial sustainability
  • Be an active, creative, and committed member of the Museum’s Leadership Team, which holds responsibility for the Museum’s new Strategic Plan, and for its annual Operating Plan
  • Be an active, creative, and committed member of the Museum’s Program Team which holds responsibility for the Museum’s Program that is designed to attract, build, and deliver value to all on- and off-campus audiences
  • Advise on all Museum communications to ensure brand alignment and consistency, and will support colleagues in handling the press and media
