Responsibilities

The Assistant Director, Social Media Strategy & Content will assist in leading the Redbirds’ brand development through social media.
Responsibilities include monitoring the Illinois State Athletics social media community, increasing engagement and developing creative ways to drive ticket sales and fan attendance through social media.
This position will manage assigned sports social media accounts with the goal of showcasing the accomplishments of ISU student-athletes and coaches and sharing all of the great things about being a Redbird to fans, recruits, alumni, etc.
The Assistant Director will be tasked with establishing an overall brand and voice for the assigned accounts.
This position could also assist in the management of miscellaneous athletics department accounts.

Requirements

Bachelor or equivalent degree in journalism, sports communications, sports marketing, sports management, public relations, communications, English, or a related field.
One (1) year (12 months) of full-time or part-time equivalent professional level work experience in the following:
a. working in athletic communications/sports information fields
b. Social media content creation experience & utilizing multiple social media platforms
Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
Experience in developing social media calendars.
Highly proficient in social media platforms: X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Threads
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop
Experience in CapCut or similar video editing platforms
Organized, detail-oriented, problem solver.
