Job Summary

Own the full cycle of branded content creation and editing across multiple channels, ensuring brand-consistent voice, quality, and audience-appropriate tone while coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.

  • Lead content development across website, newsletters, social media, and related materials.
  • Maintain brand voice, optimize for readability and SEO, and align messaging with cross-functional partners.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit engaging branded content including but not limited to website, internal and external newsletters, social media content, speeches, executive and staff talking points, advertising copy, opinion pieces/letters to the editor, media releases, and other internal communications.
  • Serve as a proofreader and fact-checker for all projects, checking for brand style, proper tone, clarity, accessibility, and grammar.
  • Optimize content for readability, SEO, and user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align messaging and tone.
  • Conduct research and interviews with staff, library users, and others to support factual, well-informed writing.
  • Maintain our brand voice across all written touchpoints, customizing by audience.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in administrative matters.
  • Support other content needs as they arise and other duties as assigned.
  • Hours: As needed, up to 19 hours a week.
  • Schedule: Will include day, evening, and weekend hours, could vary from week to week based on need.

Requirements

  • Have 2+ years of writing experience (in-house, agency, freelance, or equivalent).
  • Have a strong portfolio that shows adaptability across platforms and styles, while being branded and consistent.
  • Have excellent grammar, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Have an ability to write in different tones and voices depending on audience and platform.
  • Have familiarity with SEO basics and digital marketing concepts.
  • Have excellent interviewing skills in order to draft content.
  • Have an ability to demonstrate time management of multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Have an ability to cope with daily job-related stress.
  • Have experience with content management systems.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, design tools (e.g., Canva), and photography is a plus.
