Job Summary

Own category marketing for fragrances with end-to-end ownership of insights, GTM plans, and experiential work, while shaping strategy with cross-functional teams and driving new business opportunities.

  • Category & Market Insight: Build deep category knowledge, monitor trends, and influence launch cadence and promotions.
  • Go-to-Market & Experiences: Develop GTM solutions, lead in-market experiences, and run trend-based client workshops.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Sales, Insights, Creative Development, and Applied Research to craft compelling fragrance proposals and identify growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as marketing expert for responsible categories, gaining an intimate knowledge of the category, brands and retail space; understanding the cadence of launches and promotions.
  • Develop and maintain category overviews and brand playbooks for respective categories.
  • Conduct research using secondary data sources such as trade journals, industry publications/data (IRI, Mintel, etc) social media platforms, & other internet sources to monitor the market and trends. Perform regular store checks and attend trade shows, exhibitions and presentations as needed.
  • Utilize category knowledge to influence strategy and proactively identify new business opportunities.
  • NA partner to the Global Category leader for Fabric and Home Care. Implement NA marketing section of the global category plan.
  • Prepare Go-to-Market solutions.
  • Identify, track and forecast trends (consumer, lifestyle, etc.) and their impact on evolving sensorial and fragrance category preferences.
  • Develop workshops for both internal and external clients based on trend and consumer insights, collaborating with designers to create engaging experiences and interactive solutions.
  • Present trends effectively and interactively to customers to generate new business opportunities.
  • Lead in-market experiences for internal and external clients (e.g. trend tracking).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Insights, Creative Development & Applied Research, to inspire winning fragrance proposals.
  • Manage ideation process – trend spotting, brainstorming, concept ideation/ development/presentation, anchored with a consumer centric approach.
  • Analyze customer brand/fragrance portfolios and product lines to identify gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Provide brief submission support with creative story telling for fragrance submissions. Can also include board mock-ups, packing and claim recommendations. Present to internal and external customers.
  • Partner on global briefs as required.
  • Organization of new product launch and smelling sessions for assigned categories.
  • Contribute to key marketing tools such as Brand News, What’s Hot, New Product Wins, etc.
  • Metis database management for assigned categories.
  • Acquisition of market products as needed.

Requirements

  • BA/ BS required; MBA beneficial.
  • 5+ years of relevant marketing experience in consumer products categories. Fragrance/Flavor and/or CPG industry preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with clarity and confidence, bringing energy and engagement to both formal and informal presentations.
  • Excellent written communication and storytelling capability.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and other similar platforms.
  • AI experience and familiarity with generative AI tools for content development, analysis and work process optimization is essential.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (i.e. Mintel, IRI, SPSS, Euromonitor, NPD, WGSN, etc.)
  • Strong stakeholder management capabiliities and negotiation skills are a must.
  • Highly creative and intuitive with a strong analytic mindset for interpreting data and trends.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to see the big picture, while remaining detail-oriented.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
  • Forward-thinking, agile mindset. Go-getter, self-starter mentality.
