Job Summary

Own the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies for the Heart and Vascular and Transplant Care Lines, guiding multi‑channel campaigns from audience targeting to performance optimization.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies that support strategic priorities and growth goals.
  • Identify target audiences, establish positioning, define goals and objectives, and develop marketing plans using appropriate channels.
  • Develop and execute multi-channel campaigns across the consumer journey, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with University of Utah Health brand standards.
  • Provide strategic direction for advertising and public-facing communications, including digital, print, video, and other creative assets.
  • Gather and apply consumer, market, and performance insights to inform strategies, evaluate effectiveness, monitor key performance metrics, and optimize campaigns and initiatives.
  • Write, edit, and develop clear, compelling content that communicates the expertise, services, programs, and patient care experience of the Heart and Vascular and Transplant Care Lines.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to showcase physicians, clinical programs, research, innovation, patient stories, and other areas that enhance the visibility and reputation of the Heart and Vascular and Transplant Care Lines.
  • Plan, organize, and manage occasional community events.
  • Track project and campaign budgets and resources as appropriate.

Requirements

  • EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
  • Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
  • Marketing Communication Specialist, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
  • Marketing Communication Specialist, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Preferred

  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
  • Proficiency with digital and email marketing tools, web content management platforms (Drupal, SharePoint), and social media marketing.
  • Experience using project management platforms such as Asana, Smartsheet, Basecamp, or similar tools.
  • Experience with photography, video, or other multimedia content development.
  • Working knowledge of basic graphic design.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in healthcare, health systems, academic medicine, or a related environment.
