Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Publish 5–7 posts per week across five platforms — in practice 2–3 original pieces, smartly repurposed. One strong Reel becomes a TikTok and a YouTube Short.
  • Shoot and edit short-form video from program footage, events and student features. This is the heart of the role.
  • Cover IMPACTdmv events in person as needed. Workshops, club meetings, networking events, school visits, showcases. We publish the calendar in advance so you can plan around classes.
  • Write captions that sound like a person, not a press release, and that shift in tone from TikTok to LinkedIn.
  • Grow engagement, and know why it grew. Track performance, report on it, bring recommendations. We would rather hear an idea failed and why than watch it quietly disappear.
  • Maintain the content calendar so posting is planned, not panicked.
  • Protect our students. Follow media release and privacy rules carefully. Many of the people in our content are minors.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Demonstrated experience creating Reels and TikToks (personal accounts absolutely count)
  • Fluency across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube
  • Reliable internet
  • A phone or camera that shoots video, and your own editing setup (we provide access to tools like Canva and CapCut)
  • Strong writing and spelling
  • Dependability on a posting schedule
  • Reliable transportation and availability to travel to Prince George's County for events, including some evenings and Saturdays.

Preferred

  • Studying marketing, communications, journalism, digital media or PR but a strong portfolio matters more than your major
  • CapCut proficiency (strongly preferred)
  • Canva
  • Experience with scheduling tools and platform analytics
  • Graphic design, photography or motion graphics ability
  • An account you have grown yourself
  • Connection to Prince George's County or the DMV.
