Job Summary

Own the strategy and end-to-end execution of mission-driven media that bridges issue content with lifestyle storytelling, guiding a multi-team operation and a pipeline of proven concepts while keeping non-political parent audiences engaged.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and execution: Translate vision into a clear, sequenced roadmap with concrete milestones, resourcing, and success metrics.
  • Team and operational leadership: Set editorial direction across content, production, narrative, and storytelling; coach leaders and align work to shared goals.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Connect issue-focused content with lifestyle/content across the network; align narrative priorities and ensure execution across properties.
  • Incubation and experimentation: Design systems and an incubation model that tests ideas, signals what works, and builds a pipeline of proven concepts.
  • Performance and accountability: Establish benchmarks for reach and resonance; drive evidence-informed decisions on where to focus and what to scale.
  • Funder and external representation: Partner with the Executive Director on funder conversations, articulating bets, deliverables, and progress metrics.
  • Audience development and strategy translation: Develop testable audience strategies and translate them into actionable plans the team can execute.
  • Operational systems and workflows: Oversee workflows and tools from ideation to production, distribution, and performance analysis.
  • Network collaboration: Align across Motherly and PT Holdings to amplify impact media and cultural content across the network.
  • Gaps and alignment: Identify and resolve cross-team workflow and strategic alignment gaps.

Requirements

  • Have built something: hands-on leadership in a digital media operation accountable for reach and engagement, with trackable launches or rebuilds.
  • Fluent in modern digital media: deep understanding of content performance across social, video, email, SMS, and emerging formats; expert in vertical video and organic vs paid distribution;
  • Experimentation mindset: proven ability to grow audiences from 0 to 1 and from 1 to 10 with go-to-market and launch strategies.
  • Tech-forward: comfort with AI and emerging tools to innovate media work; track record of adopting new tech.
  • Vision-to-execution translator: can translate ambitious strategy into plans, teams, and systems to deliver.
  • People management experience: direct coaching, feedback, and building a culture of accountability.
  • Cross-functional leadership: experience leading content, production, and narrative teams toward shared goals.
  • Equity in practice: thoughtful approach to equity in content and team leadership.
  • Thrives in evolving environments: energized by ambiguity and shaping what comes next.
