Job Summary

Own market access strategy and cross-functional leadership for US CNS products, shaping policy, pricing, evidence generation, and stakeholder engagement to secure payer access across in-line and pipeline programs.

  • Define and align enterprise access strategy and operating plans with brand and market access leadership to drive payer access outcomes.
  • Coordinate evidence generation, value messaging, and advocacy inputs with Medical, HEOR, and advocacy groups to support access decisions.
  • Collaborate with global product and U.S. brand teams to embed market access perspectives into development and lifecycle milestones.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for developing access strategies and access marketing materials for Otsuka’s CNS portfolio in the United States, for both in-line and pipeline products
  • Lead the development and alignment process for the U.S. brand access strategic and operating plans in close collaboration with business and brand leadership as well as market access leadership teams
  • Accountable for enterprise-wide access strategy and policy shaping in partnership with BU counterpart
  • Create an environment of constant growth for the access strategy and marketing team that maximizes engagement and effectiveness, ensuring that the team is staffed with top talent within the industry
  • Lead a team to define the strategies to achieve access goals, including how to message, position, and leverage Medical, Value and Evidence, advocacy & evidence assessments, advocacy groups, and a product's clinical value proposition to compete and secure access for patients
  • Identify evidence generation needs based on market access events and coordinating with brand team, HEOR/Medical teams to inform the development of value propositions
  • Work closely with the global product team and U.S. brand team to integrate the U.S. Market access perspective into key development programs for in-line and pipeline medicines ensure alignment around delivery against access goals at each stage of a product’s lifecycle
  • Work closely with the U.S and global business development teams ensuring U.S. market access perspectives are reflected in acquisition deals that may be under consideration
  • Keep a pulse on upcoming legislative actions that impact patient access to Otsuka’s CNS portfolio and shape a cross-functional team to build a response strategy in partnership with the government affairs team.
  • Set strategy and support development of pricing and contracting in collaboration with the Pricing & Contracting team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited four-year college or university (or the equivalent if education obtained outside of the United States)
  • 12+ years of demonstrated success in market access, pricing, contracting, reimbursement strategy, and payer marketing
  • Strong understanding of the complex and rapidly evolving factors influencing US market access, including reimbursement trends, payer concerns and healthcare policy
  • Strong understanding of the US payer environment, payer market dynamics, payer marketing principles and how healthcare players make decisions across private & public channels
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategic plans, particularly in the pharma or healthcare sector
  • Experience in marketing, product launches, and lifecycle management
  • Experience working closely with other functions such as Pricing & Contracting, Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, and Government Affairs to ensure alignment in market access strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to lead direct team members and cross-functional teams that drive results in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred

  • MBA or master’s degree preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in CNS preferred
