Job Summary

Own and evolve the Marketing PMO as a governance-focused service that unifies the marketing project portfolio, builds the AI-powered PMO stack, and partners with executives to prioritize capacity and trade-offs.

  • Lead the PMO and governance across the marketing portfolio
  • Develop and deploy AI-powered PMO workflows and tools
  • Partner with Finance and senior sponsors to drive resource decisions

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the Marketing PMO Team
  • Mature the PMO into a full governance function: Building on the project and program management foundation already in place, operationalize the intake process, portfolio taxonomy, status rhythms and escalation protocols that bring Pinterest's full marketing project portfolio under one consistent operating system, covering flagship events, annual initiatives, international campaigns and regional activations. Design a hybrid methodology that applies agile principles where appropriate and long-cycle project management where required.
  • Govern the marketing events portfolio: Own the project management infrastructure for Pinterest's marketing events. Embed project managers as independent trackers and escalation owners, not project stakeholders. Your team ensures milestones hold, risks surface early and blockers are cleared, while marketers and event leads own the creative and strategic work.
  • Own governance, not delivery: Position the PMO as a neutral party. Marketers own the work; the PMO owns the system that keeps it moving. Build a culture where rigor is a service, not a constraint.
  • Lead portfolio prioritization with business management: Model capacity against demand and equip VP and C-suite sponsors with the analysis needed for clear resource decisions. Operate as a credible planning partner to Finance, serving as a neutral lens on portfolio health and trade-offs.
  • Build and develop the team: Hire project managers who thrive as independent thinkers and escalators. Coach on stakeholder management and clear recommendations under ambiguity. Set the performance standard by defining the metrics, benchmarks and improvement cadence the team is held to.
  • Build the PMO Technology Stack
  • Define and build the AI-powered infrastructure for the PMO: Own the technology layer that executes PMO operations, including planning and forecasting tools, automated scheduling and risk alerting, capacity modeling, reporting and dashboard generation, AI-assisted brief and SOW creation. You'll determine what belongs in the stack, make the build/buy/integrate calls, and bring these capabilities online in a way that's secure, scalable and connected to Pinterest's existing systems. This will all be in partnership with our marketing technical teams.
  • Set the quality bar for technology outputs: The team owns what the tools produce. Establish the review cadence, accuracy thresholds and escalation triggers that ensure automated outputs meet the standard before they reach senior stakeholders. You are accountable for the integrity of the full PMO output, both human and AI-generated.
  • Evolve the stack as the function matures: As the PMO's operating model develops, continuously assess what the technology can take on, where it needs improvement and where human judgment remains essential. Make that line explicit and hold both sides of it accountable.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in project management, with demonstrated experience inside a marketing, creative or communications organization; this is required, not just adjacent experience.
  • Proven ability to partner across creative, marketing, communications and brand disciplines, and to be sought out for structural clarity and objectivity.
  • Demonstrated experience running a PMO as a true governance function, neutral to project outcomes, with authority derived from process and structure.
  • Experience designing a hybrid project management methodology, both agile and long-cycle, in a marketing or media environment.
  • Experience governing a marketing events portfolio including large-scale flagship events, regional activations and international campaigns.
  • Experience leading a project portfolio strategically, including modeling capacity, surfacing trade-offs to senior stakeholders and partnering with Finance.
  • Hands-on experience building or deploying AI-powered workflows and agents in an operational setting, including evaluating tools, making implementation decisions and holding automated outputs accountable.
  • Experience monitoring vendor health, including SLA accountability and build/buy/extend recommendations.
  • Experience building project management teams, including hiring for a governance model and establishing team culture.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
