The City of Des Plaines is seeking a creative and strategic Digital Media Associate to lead and enhance the City’s digital presence. This role plays a key part in shaping how the City connects with the community through social media, the website, and digital campaigns, while supporting City events and communications.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and grow the City’s social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, engagement, and performance tracking
• Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns for City events, including email marketing and paid advertising (Meta, Google)
• Create engaging content for internal and external audiences across digital channels
• Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and user-focused design
• Develop and distribute email communications, including newsletters and event promotions
• Monitor analytics and trends to measure performance and optimize digital strategies
• Support urgent communications, including time-sensitive alerts and public information
• Collaborate with departments and leadership to support communication goals
• Attend and assist with City events and media coverage as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• At least 3 years of experience in digital media, marketing, or communications
• Strong knowledge of social media strategy, content creation, and digital advertising
• Experience with website management and content management systems
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms and analytics tools
• Understanding of ADA/WCAG accessibility standards
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills

Compensation:

Starting at $71,664.

Additional Requirements:

• Valid Illinois Driver’s License or ability to obtain one
• Ability to attend evening or weekend City events as needed
