Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Expand Houston Life beyond the broadcast
  • Turn daily show content into platform-native formats (short-form, vertical video, explainers, recaps, service-driven content)
  • Help define Houston Life’s voice, storytelling, and presence across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, streaming, and emerging platforms.
  • Pitch original content ideas built specifically for digital and social—not every story starts with the television show.
  • Create content built for audience behavior, not just distribution
  • Produce content designed for feeds, not just repurposed from broadcast
  • Shape hooks, structure, pacing, and framing based on how audiences engage
  • Ensure every piece answers: Why should I care? What do I get from this?
  • Extend segments into franchises
  • Turn one-off segments into repeatable, scalable content formats

Requirements

  • Experience producing content for digital, social, or streaming platforms (not just broadcast)
  • A deep understanding of platform-native storytelling across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms
  • Strong writing, creative instincts, and mobile-first storytelling skills
  • Comfortable shooting, editing, and publishing independently when needed
  • Uses analytics to refine ideas and improve performance
  • Sees one story and imagines multiple ways to tell it
  • Naturally collaborates across editorial, production, marketing, and talent
  • Takes ownership of results and enjoys building something new
