Job Description

Responsibilities

  • A High School Chemistry Teacher develops and delivers lesson plans focused on chemical properties, reactions, and laboratory safety . Key responsibilities include conducting hands-on experiments, assessing student performance, integrating technology, and preparing students for standardized tests, while fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for diverse learners.
  • Designing and delivering lesson plans aligned with state standards and curriculum requirements.
  • Preparing, setting up, and supervising safe, engaging experiments and demonstrations.
  • Creating and evaluating quizzes, tests, projects, and lab reports to track student progress.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and handling of hazardous chemicals in the laboratory.
  • Offering tutoring, mentoring students in STEM fields, and addressing social-emotional needs.
  • Meeting with parents, staff, and administration to discuss student performance and school initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, typically in chemistry or related science field
  • Must possess and maintain a PA certification. Preferred certification in science, generally in secondary education
  • Deep understanding of chemistry concepts (atomic structure, stoichiometry, organic/inorganic chemistry).
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and educational technologies
  • Strong ability to manage classroom dynamics and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Patience, effective communication, and the ability to use educational technology
  • Multi-faceted, multi-skilled, resourceful, and willing to do whatever it takes to help our scholars reach a level of academic excellence
