Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates hospital-wide community outreach and event strategies, ensuring clear communication and engagement across various platforms.
  • Creates and distributes content that supports the hospital's mission, enhances community outreach, and promotes key initiatives.
  • Strengthens relationships with the community, addresses public concerns, and raises awareness of hospital services, programs, and events.
  • Supports the Regional Director of Marketing, Legislative Affairs & Strategy (DOMAS) in managing community relations, customer service, and marketing programs for the West Hawaii Region.
  • Coordinates community outreach efforts, public relations activities, and event planning for Kona and Kohala Hospitals.
  • Works closely with hospital leadership and the Regional Director to foster strong, positive relationships between the hospitals and the local community.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in researching, analyzing, organizing, planning, and coordinating program activities, such as in community relations, public relations, event planning, and customer service; development of policies and procedures; marketing programs; and preparing written information for dissemination to print and broadcast news media.
  • Substitution of Education and Experience: 1. Possession of an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of specialized work experience may be substituted for the education requirement. 2. Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of specialized work experience.
