Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead scalable growth strategies and systems across acquisition, conversion, and retention
  • Coordinate with teams to execute marketing campaigns and product-led growth initiatives across on-site and off-site experiences
  • Conduct data analysis to understand user behavior, cohort performance, and market trends
  • Drive acquisition and retention of high-intent users across on-site experiences, owned channels (registration, newsletters, app), and paid media
  • Identify and test growth levers, analyze results, and scale successful initiatives
  • Partner with product, engineering, and editorial teams to optimize registration flows, reg walls, on-site acquisition modules, and other conversion experiences
  • Partner closely with editorial and audience teams to align growth systems with newsroom priorities
  • Shape and own the lifecycle and retention strategies that increase return frequency, engagement depth, and recurring donor conversion
  • Improve our capabilities and operational processes to enable faster growth and ensure quality of our user experience and system
  • Apply financial acumen; able to align strategy and initiatives to business outcomes

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading subscription or donations revenue growth, including ownership of revenue strategy and/or P&L performance in a fast-growing consumer business
  • Direct experience building, scaling, or operating a reader-revenue or donations business within a media or mission-driven organization
  • Demonstrated expertise in the dynamics of digital subscription or recurring B2C revenue
  • Experience with donor tools and systems, lifecycle stewardship, and retention tactics that drive recurring contributions
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels and strategies
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Experience with A/B testing, funnel optimization, and user engagement strategies
  • Strong decision-making skills based on data-driven insights
  • The ability to communicate clearly and regularly with teams, stakeholders, and executives to align on progress, challenges, and opportunities
