Job Summary

Own the entry level social media footprint for a local chamber by supporting daily posting, basic content creation, event coverage, and collaboration on campaigns to lift brand voice and online presence.

  • Plan, draft, and schedule posts across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
  • Coordinate content capture at events and translate ideas into engaging visuals and copy.
  • Track light metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth) to inform future content and ideas.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • support the Chamber’s marketing efforts by assisting with day-to-day social media management, including planning, drafting, and scheduling posts & videos across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
  • creating engaging visual and written content
  • monitoring comments and messages
  • helping to maintain a consistent brand voice
  • assist with campaign planning, event promotion, and basic performance tracking (e.g., engagement, reach, and follower growth) to help inform future content
  • collaborating with staff on marketing projects
  • gathering content at events (photos, short videos, interviews)
  • contributing ideas to strengthen the Chamber’s online presence

Requirements

  • Strong interest and foundational skills in Social Media Marketing and Social Media Content Creation, including familiarity with major social platforms and current trends.
  • Basic understanding of Digital Marketing and Marketing principles, especially as they relate to community engagement and brand awareness.
  • Effective Communication skills, including clear writing, professional email etiquette, and the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
  • Comfort with basic design and content tools (e.g., Canva, Chap GPT, mobile photo/video apps) and willingness to learn new platforms and software.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow brand guidelines with attention to detail.
  • Collaborative mindset and a positive, proactive approach to working with diverse members, staff, and community partners.
  • Interest in community development, local business, and the mission of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce is highly beneficial.
  • Current student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field seeking PT Summer or Year-Round opportunity to gain practical experience.
  • Must have experience with various social media platforms, graphic design, taking photos/videos, and knowledge of Canva.

Preferred

  • PT Internship.
