Job Summary

Own the Cove storytelling program end-to-end, balancing documentary-style content creation with community outreach and care-partner collaboration.

  • Lead documentary content across photography, video, and interviews.
  • Coordinate community events and partnerships to extend reach.
  • Monitor engagement data to refine storytelling without compromising authenticity.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Document the human experience of Cove. Spend time with our clients, care partners, families, and communities to capture the stories, relationships, rituals, interests, and everyday moments that define our work. Develop a recognizable documentary style through photography, short films, interviews, candid footage, and longer-form storytelling.
  • Work as a Cove care partner occasionally. This is an essential part of the role. You will periodically work directly with clients in a care partner capacity, gaining firsthand experience of the relationships, routines, challenges, and moments of connection that make our approach distinctive. Appropriate training, role boundaries, and client-specific permissions will be provided.
  • Develop and manage Cove's social media presence. Build a thoughtful content calendar, plan and produce original content, write compelling captions, edit video, publish consistently, and identify opportunities to expand our reach. You will help shape the visual and editorial identity of Cove across our social platforms, prioritizing meaningful storytelling and community engagement over chasing trends.
  • Take our storytelling into the community. Develop creative ways to bring conversations about aging, memory, identity, and quality of life into public spaces. This may include on-the-street interviews, conversations with local business owners, intergenerational storytelling, community events, neighborhood explorations, and collaborations with organizations working to improve the experience of aging.
  • Make dementia more understandable. Translate complex topics into accessible, engaging content that helps families, professionals, and the broader public understand the realities of dementia and the importance of individualized support. Identify stories that challenge assumptions, highlight overlooked needs, and demonstrate how a person's interests, history, environment, and relationships can inform meaningful care.
  • Build a living archive of the people and places around us. Look for opportunities to preserve personal histories, family traditions, local culture, the wisdom of older adults, and the experiences of those working in dementia care. We want to create content that is worth returning to years from now, not just content that disappears into a feed tomorrow.
  • Collaborate on events and creative initiatives. Work alongside Cove's leadership and care team to develop original concepts, community gatherings, educational experiences, and creative campaigns that bring our philosophy to life. We want someone who contributes ideas, takes initiative, and sees possibilities beyond the original assignment.
  • Learn from the response. Track engagement, reach, audience growth, and content performance, using those insights to refine our approach without sacrificing the integrity of the stories we tell.

Requirements

  • Has a genuine interest in aging, dementia, family histories, human behavior, and the complexities of everyday life.
  • Thinks like a documentarian: observant, patient, curious, inventive, and willing to spend time understanding a story before telling it.
  • Can recognize the significance of an ordinary moment without staging it or forcing it to become something it is not.
  • Has strong photography, videography, editing, interviewing, and written storytelling skills, or a compelling portfolio demonstrating an equivalent creative skill set.
  • Understands social media strategy and knows how to adapt a story for different platforms without losing its substance.
  • Is comfortable approaching strangers, asking thoughtful questions, and making people feel at ease on camera.
  • Enjoys being out in the community, attending events, meeting people, and developing creative partnerships.
  • Is collaborative and receptive to ideas while also confident enough to bring original concepts to the table.
  • Can work independently, organize a content pipeline, meet deadlines, and manage projects from concept through publication.
  • Approaches older adults and people living with dementia with respect, patience, dignity, and genuine interest.
