Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Capture and share the magic of the Academy alongside our photographer/videographer.
  • Create and implement a summer-long social media strategy that builds engagement and celebrates student experiences.
  • Post daily updates on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok to highlight this unforgettable experience
  • Collaborate with students to include their voices and perspectives in the Academy’s online story.
  • Participate in camp activities, both on and off campus.
  • Model enthusiasm, integrity, empathy, and professionalism while creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
  • Support the mission and values of National History Academy and serve as a positive role model at all times.
  • Maintain student health and safety, responding quickly and responsibly to any concerns or emergencies.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok — and how to create engaging, meaningful content.
  • Prior experience managing social media (for a club, campus group, or organization).
  • A genuine interest in American history, civics, and law.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills — you’re confident speaking with students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
  • Creative problem-solving, organization, and time management abilities.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and the ability to build strong relationships with students and peers.
  • You’ve completed your sophomore year of college and are at least 21 years old
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to complete before the program).

National History Academy inspires high school and middle school students to learn the foundations of American democracy and the responsibilities of citizenship through history case studies, nationally-known guest speakers, and visits to the defining sites of American history. The Academy is online for Summer 2021. Registration is open and scholarships are available.National History Academy is operated by Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area, a 180-mile corridor from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania through Maryland and Harpers Ferry, West Virginia to Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia.
