Job Description

The SLMG Cooperative Education Consortium (SLMG CO-OP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students and recent graduates gain meaningful, hands-on experience in digital communication, human resources, engagement strategy, and related fields.

Internship Overview

The Social Media Content Developer Intern helps create and manage social media content across several platforms within the SLMG CO-OP creative studios.

In this role, you’ll work alongside our creative team to develop engaging social media posts by creating graphics, writing captions, selecting hashtags, and brainstorming content ideas designed for specific audiences.

You’ll also gain exposure to social media analytics by helping track engagement metrics and learning how teams use data to improve content performance.

This internship is especially well-suited for college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates who are looking to gain their first professional experience in digital marketing and social media.

The Social Media Content Developer Intern reports to the SLMG CO-OP Creative Director.

This internship is designed for individuals seeking practical experience, professional development, and/or college credit.

This is a volunteer, part-time internship and does not lead to paid employment.

We power the future by providing impactful internships and fellowships in digital communication, human resources, engagement strategy, and related fields.

SLMG CO-OP began as a public relations firm in 2010 and has since evolved into an educational nonprofit organization. Our mission is to provide experience-based learning opportunities to emerging professionals seeking careers in digital communication, engagement strategy, and Human Resources.

Our programs are research-based and coaching-centered, giving students and recent graduates the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in school to real projects in a modern remote work environment.

Through partnerships with established companies, small businesses, and emerging brands, interns contribute to real initiatives that support their career development.

Responsibilities

  • Help create engaging social media content, including graphics, captions, and hashtags
  • Design visual content using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Brainstorm creative post ideas that align with campaign goals and audience interests
  • Assist with maintaining a content calendar to ensure consistent posting
  • Monitor social media performance metrics such as engagement, reach, and impressions
  • Support the team in reviewing analytics and identifying ways to improve content performance
  • Help plan and support social media campaigns and promotional initiatives
  • Stay current on social media trends and platform updates
  • Collaborate with team members to align content with overall marketing strategies
  • Participate in team meetings and structured coaching sessions
  • Assist with additional creative tasks or projects as assigned by the Creative Director

Qualifications

  • Completion of at least 32 college credit hours in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Creative Writing, or a related field
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) is helpful but not required
  • Strong writing and editing skills for developing social media captions
  • Interest in social media marketing, content creation, and digital storytelling
  • Basic understanding of social media metrics such as engagement, reach, or impressions
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a team in a remote environment
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn
  • Availability for up to 15 hours per week
  • Must currently reside in the United States
  • Relevant coursework, academic projects, internships, or personal content creation may be considered applicable experience.
