Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own organic search strategy across a portfolio of ecommerce florists, spanning classic search and AI-driven discovery.
  • Diagnose organic performance changes and quantify movement by page, query, channel, location, and time.
  • Resolve technical SEO: crawlability, indexation, canonicals, redirects, structured data, internal linking, template quality, page speed, and site architecture.
  • Lead local and ecommerce SEO: local packs, Google Business Profile, location and occasion pages, and ecommerce structured data, built on genuine value.
  • Improve AI visibility: tune content, structured data, and entity signals to surface and get cited in AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude.
  • Evaluate competitors at the content, technical, local, link, SERP, and AI-visibility level, down to the specific gap.
  • Build recommendations that are specific, prioritized, measurable, and tied to revenue.
  • Communicate regularly with Account Executives and clients via Slack, Basecamp, and phone, and prepare monthly reporting that account teams can take into client calls.
  • Learn the retail floral industry, and support holiday windows, promotions, and site changes across the marketing team's calendar.
  • Monitor client, competitor, and industry changes, and help build the documentation, reporting standards, and repeatable processes that make the SEO function stronger.

Requirements

  • Deep SEO experience you can prove through your work, across technical, local, and ecommerce SEO and content strategy.
  • Diagnosis before recommendation, every time, working across messy data and competitor research without losing the thread.
  • Fluency across the modern organic search and AI visibility stack. For analytics and reporting: GA4, Search Console, Google Business Profile, Looker Studio, BigQuery, and Sheets. For crawling and competitive research: Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Ahrefs, Semrush, and rank tracking. For technical work: structured data testing, page speed diagnostics, and log-file analysis. For AI visibility: visibility tracking plus AI-assisted research and workflow tools.
  • Active study of how AI search is changing discovery, citations, entity recognition, authority, and zero-click behavior.
  • Revenue-first judgment. Rankings matter, revenue matters more.
  • Strong written and spoken communication with clients, account managers, developers, and leadership, without hiding behind jargon and without guarantees you cannot defend.
  • Ability to prioritize and strategize against company and client goals, handle changing priorities, and work calmly under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven, and able to work independently and collaborate with a team.
  • A can-do attitude, a solid work ethic, a desire to learn the floral industry, and a sense of humor.
