Job Summary

Own and execute public relations for the Brickers Foundation, shaping mission-driven coverage, media relations, and crisis response to elevate awareness and reputation.

  • Media Relations: Build journalist relationships, coordinate coverage for events, campaigns, and announcements.
  • Messaging & Narrative: Write press materials, talking points, and media briefs that align with brand voice across platforms.
  • Reputation & Reporting: Monitor coverage, report outcomes, and collaborate with marketing to ensure consistent messaging.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute public relations strategies to promote the Foundation’s mission, programs, and events
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and public statements
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and community partners
  • Coordinate media coverage for events, campaigns, and announcements
  • Manage crisis communication and reputation management when needed
  • Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to ensure consistent messaging
  • Assist with talking points, speeches, and media briefs for leadership and spokespersons
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on publicity efforts and outcomes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in public relations, media relations, or communications (nonprofit experience preferred)
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with digital media, social platforms, and PR tools
  • Strong understanding of brand reputation and public image management

Preferred

  • Established media contacts or ability to build them quickly
  • Event publicity and campaign management experience
  • Basic knowledge of social media analytics and media monitoring
