Job Summary

Own the full spectrum of product marketing for Honeycomb by shaping messaging, planning launches, producing compelling content, enabling sales, tracking competitors, articulating customer proof points, and measuring success across cross-functional workstreams.

  • Messaging, launches, content, sales enablement, competitive intelligence, VOC proofs, and measurement
  • Cross-team collaboration to ship and improve product marketing
  • Data-driven iteration and curiosity about technical products

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Messaging and positioning: Write and maintain messaging for features and product areas, from the one-sentence version an engineer reads on a web page to the slide a sales engineer uses in a technical conversation. Keep it accurate and grounded in what the product actually does.
  • Launches: Run launch execution for small and mid-sized releases and support the larger ones. Build the plan, write the assets, coordinate Product, Marketing, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success, and report on how the launch performed.
  • Content: Produce the practical material that helps people evaluate and adopt Honeycomb: blog posts, solution briefs, web copy, demo scripts, FAQs, and customer-facing one-pagers.
  • Sales enablement: Equip the field with what they need to run a good conversation, including pitch narratives, objection handling, battlecards, and release updates. Join customer calls, listen to recorded ones, and fix the material that isn't landing.
  • Competitive and market intelligence: Track the observability market and competitor moves. Maintain competitive assets and keep them current and honest, so the field trusts them.
  • Voice of customer and proof points: Talk to customers and prospects, turn what you hear into case studies, quotes, and proof points, and bring the patterns back to Product and Marketing.
  • Measurement: Help define what success looks like for your work, pull the data, and share what you learn, including the things that didn't work.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in product marketing, or in a closely adjacent go-to-market role such as content marketing, sales engineering, technical writing, developer relations, or product management, with at least some of it in B2B SaaS.
  • Strong writing. You can take a dense technical explanation and turn it into something short, accurate, and useful, and you can tell the difference between the two yourself.
  • Curiosity about technical products and the patience to learn how they work. You ask engineers questions until you actually understand the answer, and you are comfortable in a product that assumes a technical user.
  • Passion about the team winning: Sales, marketing, and product teams will depend on you to succeed. Their success is your success, but you’re not simply an order taker: you look for the smart solutions and don’t wait to be asked.
  • The ability to run a project across teams without formal authority: setting a timeline, chasing the open items, and telling people clearly when something has slipped.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward shipping. Our priorities move, the team is small, and the best work here comes from people who start rather than wait for a brief.
  • Willingness to use data to decide and to evaluate your own work honestly.
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI tooling in your work.

Preferred

  • Exposure to observability, developer tools, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, platform engineering, or reliability and SLO practices. We will teach this, but a head start helps.
  • Experience marketing to engineers as the primary audience.
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI and LLM tooling, including coding agents and MCP-based workflows.
  • Experience with webinars, conference talks, or community programs.
  • Experience working in a fully distributed company.

Benefits

  • A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program
  • It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience
  • Time to recharge with unlimited PTO
  • A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!)
  • Home office, co-working, and internet stipend
  • Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood
  • Annual development allowance
  • And much more...

Honeycomb is the observability platform that enables engineering teams to find and solve problems they couldn't before. Honeycomb’s approach is fundamentally different from other tools that claim observability, and is built to help teams answer novel questions about their ever-evolving cloud applications.Other tools silo your data across disjointed pillars (logs, metrics, and traces), are too slow, and constrain teams to only answer predetermined questions. Honeycomb unifies all data sources in a single type, returning queries in seconds – not minutes – and revealing critical issues that logs and metrics alone can’t see. Using the power of distributed tracing and a query engine designed for highly-contextual telemetry data, Honeycomb reveals both why a problem is happening and who specifically is impacted.Every interface is interactive, enabling any engineer – no matter how tenured – to ask questions on the fly, drill down by any dimension and solve issues before customers notice. Powered by machine learning, BubbleUp enables you to quickly spot outliers that reveal the cause of hidden issues. Engineering teams can deploy confidently, resolve incidents faster and focus on high-value work that drives innovation.
