Job Summary

Own end-to-end product and inventory management for a lumber business, combining market sensing, vendor relationships, pricing, and sales enablement to drive profitable product turns and education across the sales team.

  • Product and inventory ownership: manage lifecycle, pricing pages, vendor selection, and inventory turns.
  • Sales enablement and education: introduce new products to sales, coordinate training, support in special sales plans.
  • Operational excellence: monitor aging, ROA projections, cycle counts, and budgeting.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Product and inventory ownership: manage lifecycle, pricing pages, vendor selection, and inventory turns.
  • Sales enablement and education: introduce new products to sales, coordinate training, support in special sales plans.
  • Operational excellence: monitor aging, ROA projections, cycle counts, and budgeting.
  • Supports daily sales activity and participates in development of sales plans and programs.
  • Maintains program pricing pages for the sales team.
  • Coordinates product education for Capital Lumber employees and customers.
  • Purchases, manages and maintains inventory to standards through an inventory model system.
  • Researches and cultivates new vendors and maintains vendor relationships.
  • Interacts with current vendors and assists with purchasing products.
  • Participates in other duties as assigned and stays adaptable to changes in the role.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or relevant industry experience.
  • Eight years of experience in lumber industry with vendor relationships.
  • Understanding of profit/loss as it pertains to sales, inventory and bottom line business management.
  • Ability to model the Capital values and provide innovative solutions.
  • Effective communication, motivation and engagement of customers and team members.
  • Ability to drive and be accountable for results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong sense of urgency for goal achievement and results focus with quick decision-making.
  • Strong follow-up to ensure proper results and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally.
