Position Title: Middle School Social Studies Teacher (Grades 6–8)
Location: Arts Campus, Jacksonville, FL
Job Type: Full-Time (10-Month Contract)
Salary: Starting at $52,500 (based on experience and credentials)
Work Location: In Person
Job Summary-
Global Leadership Academy is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our Arts Campus. This role is ideal for an educator who brings history and civics to life, fosters critical thinking, and helps students make meaningful connections between past and present.

Key Responsibilities-
Plan and deliver standards-aligned Social Studies instruction for grades 6–8 in accordance with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards
Teach key concepts in history, geography, civics, and economics
Foster critical thinking, discussion, and analysis of historical events and current issues
Create a classroom culture that promotes respect, inquiry, and engagement
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
Provide targeted interventions and enrichment based on student data
Implement effective classroom management and differentiated instruction strategies
Collaborate with colleagues and instructional leaders to support student achievement
Communicate regularly with families to build strong partnerships
Participate in school events, team planning, and professional development
Qualifications-
Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Education, or a related field
Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in Social Studies (Grades 5–9 or 6–12)
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Teaching Experience Preferred
Strong content knowledge in history, civics, and geography
Ability to facilitate discussion-based and inquiry-driven instruction
ESOL endorsement or willingness to obtain (preferred)
Collaborative, dependable, and mission-driven mindset
Work Schedule-
Monday – Friday
8-hour workday
In-person instruction required
Physical Requirements-
Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear
Use of computers and instructional technology
Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds
Activity Levels
Standing/Walking: Up to 2/3 of the day
Sitting: Under 1/3
Reaching/Talking/Hearing: Over 2/3
Stooping/Crouching: Up to 2/3
