Job Summary

Own a cross-department city communications role that combines PR, social media, and public education to drive awareness of programs and services to diverse community audiences.

  • Public Programs & Outreach: Coordinate city-wide marketing, events, and promotional efforts with clear, consistent messaging across departments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Education: Present to City Manager offices and boards, lead tours and education programs, and track impact with simple metrics.

Job Description

Responsibilities - Promotes, coordinates and markets programs, services and events provided by the City of San Antonio. - Researches, analyzes and monitors promotional strategies and marketing trends. - Serves as liaison between city departments and external customers by fostering a positive, professional image. - Develops and implements public relations, advertising, promotional and social media strategies in collaboration with other City departments. - Conducts presentations, tours and public education programs and evaluates effectiveness of programs. - Prepares and maintains performance and statistical reports. - Develops and delivers presentations to City Manager's office, boards, committees, etc. - Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Requirements - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. - Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License. Preferred - Experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, event facilitation, education, or hospitality - Experience leading or presenting to groups of 10+ people, including diverse audiences (youth, corporate teams, community groups) - Experience in roles requiring high daily interaction with the public - Experience in animal welfare, nonprofit, community outreach, or public service environments - Familiarity with open-admission shelters or high-volume, fast-paced settings - Experience communicating about sensitive or complex community issues - Comfortable working in outdoor settings, varying weather conditions, and active shelter environments Benefits
