Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead The Club’s Paid Media Strategy Across: Meta (Facebook / Instagram), Google Search and YouTube, TikTok, Connected TV (CTV), Digital out-of-home (billboards)
  • Responsibilities Include: Planning match-by-match digital campaigns to drive ticket sales
  • Manage and optimize the club’s annual digital marketing budget across paid media channels.
  • Managing budgets and optimizing performance (ROAS, CPA, conversions)
  • Building audiences and retargeting funnels
  • Launching creative tests and campaign optimizations
  • Working with content team to develop high-performing ad creative
  • Collaborating with external agency partners while maintaining strong internal ownership of performance marketing strategy and results
  • Oversee the club’s email and SMS marketing strategy to drive revenue and fan engagement.
  • Campaign Strategy & Match Marketing: Lead the marketing strategy for Charleston Battery home matches and key initiatives including: Ticket promotions, Season launches and playoffs, Special events and theme nights, Merchandise launches, Community and supporter initiatives
  • Analytics & Marketing Performance: Use data to drive decisions and continuously improve marketing performance.
  • - Monitor campaign performance and marketing ROI
  • - Analyze ticket sales trends and demand curves
  • - Track performance using tools such as Google Analytics, ad platforms, and CRM data
  • - Provide insights and reporting to leadership
  • - Validate marketing performance across agency-managed and internally managed campaigns
  • - Own marketing performance metrics tied to ticket sales, including campaign ROI, conversion rates, and demand generation for home matches
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work Closely With Multiple Departments/teams Across The Club: Ticket Sales – drive demand generation and promotional campaigns; Partnerships – support sponsor activations and promotions; Communications & Content – develop campaign assets and storytelling; Merchandise / Operations – support product launches and ecommerce promotions

Charleston Battery

Charleston Battery is an American professional soccer club based in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded in 1993, the team plays in the United Soccer League and, along with the Richmond Kickers, is the oldest continuously operating professional soccer club in the United States. In 1999, Charleston Battery moved into what is now known as MUSC Health Stadium, becoming the first non-Major League Soccer professional club in the United States to build its own stadium. Charleston Battery is one of the most successful lower division soccer teams in the nation, having previously won the USISL Pro League in 1996, the USL A-League in 2003, and the final season of the USL Second Division in 2010. In 2012, the team won the USL Pro Championship.
