General Purpose
Undergeneral supervision,performs awidevariety of duties to supportaDirector of Marketing and Communicationsof assigned collegeand learning centers;creates, edits and proofreads copy;designsand lays outprint-ready artwork, posters, brochures, newsletters, illustrations, advertisements, banners and other items;coordinatesvendoractivities; writes press releases and providesphotographyservices when required;and performsrelated duties as assigned.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Compiles, organizes and coordinates input from a wide variety of sources to produce publications for the Collegeand learning centers;preparesweb-ready narrative text and graphics; obtains necessary approvals and workswith Web Content Engineersto post official news on college websites and relevant social media sites.
  • Works with District and other college marketing and communications staff topresent a unified brand image of the College through all projects and news events.
  • Works with collegeand learning centers'management and staff to research,design,develop andarrangepublication of marketing and informational materials for internal and external communications including brochures, flyers, newsletters, forms, maps, calendars, directories,advertisementsand other publications;functions asaphotographer and graphic artistas required.
  • Coordinates printing services with vendors forthedepartment;securesprinting bids,establishes effective timelines,creates requisitions andverifiesvendor payments;functionsasaliaison betweenprinting vendorsand thecollegeand learning centers;occasionally coordinates printingrequestsfromother departments.
  • Participates in the planning and coordination of special collegeandlearmingcenter events that requireprinting and/or photography such as invitations, programs, sports books, employee or student recognition or mediaspecialneeds;obtains cost estimates andestablishes andmeetsprinting and publishing deadlines.
  • Provides technicalinformationand advice to faculty, staff and administrators concerning publications and marketing; clarifies information, identifiesappropriatemedia, design possibilities,layoutsand formats; assists in the development andimplementation of innovative website and online marketing concepts; proofreads and edits a wide variety of written materials.
  • Writes press releases as required following established procedures.
  • Creates, designs, laysout and producesa variety ofvisual communicationpiecesincluding course catalogs and schedules, promotional mailers and folders, special-event flyers and invitations, program and sports booklets, handbooks, banners, temporary signage, campus maps, brochures, PowerPoint presentations and other electronic media.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding ofhistoricallyminoritizedgroups and participates in professional development activities to increase cultural competency to enhance equity-minded practices within the District.
Other Duties
  • Creates announcements for College electronic marquee ensuring information is kept uptodate.
  • Produces original photographic and/or video content for use in projects;purchases stock photography and art when required.
  • Coordinatesthe ordering ofbusiness cards for assigned campuses and centers; creates requisitions, reviewsproofs, approves billing and distributes cards.
  • Performsrelated duties as assigned.

  • Methods and techniques used in developing college class schedules.

  • Writecopy, proofread and copy edit for marketing projects, event materials and print collateral, integrating and incorporating District/college branding concepts.
  • Assist with marketing and public relations projects.
  • Apply graphic design style and techniques appropriate for differing audiences and purposes.
  • Coordinate vendor activities.

The district has two fully accredited colleges: Fresno City College and Reedley College with college centers in Madera, Oakhurst and the Clovis area. The Reedley College center in Clovis has just received canidacy to become its own college: Clovis Community College. Clovis Community College should receive full accreditation by the 2015-16 academic year.
