Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports the university’s strategic marketing and communications efforts through the creation and distribution of compelling written, visual and digital content.
  • This role is primarily responsible for the development and management of the university’s social media presence, including content planning, publishing, engagement and performance analysis, while helping to strengthen Rider University’s visibility, reputation and brand awareness across digital platforms.
  • The position also plays an important role in connecting prospective students, current students, alumni and the broader community to the Rider experience through thoughtful, strategic and audience-focused advertising, email marketing and newsletter content.
  • The coordinator works collaboratively with departments, colleges and administrative offices across the university to support institutional priorities and ensure a consistent and engaging brand voice.
  • The ideal candidate is a creative and highly organized storyteller who can identify and craft meaningful narratives about students, faculty, alumni and campus life for a wide range of audiences.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate strong writing skills, sound judgment, creativity and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while producing content that reflects Rider’s mission, values and student experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, social media management or content creation.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to craft engaging content for a variety of audiences and platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality content.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with content management systems and social media management tools.
  • Working knowledge of photography, video editing and digital content creation software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.

Preferred

  • Experience working in higher education, nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
  • Knowledge of AP Style and digital content best practices.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Slate or Constant Contact.
