Job Summary

Drive growth and monetization for a Southeast Asia–focused BL and Asian drama platform, turning activation into revenue.

  • Own revenue activation across subscriptions, ads, tokens, and premium features.
  • Must-have: Prior growth or monetization leadership for a scrappy app or creator platform.
  • Standout: Experience guiding volunteer teams and deep SEA audience knowledge.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Revenue activation. You\'re responsible for turning our monetization framework into actual income. Subscription tiers, token economy, ad integration, fan club subscriptions — the architecture exists. You build the execution engine.
  • Growth. User acquisition beyond organic. You\'ll identify and test channels, optimize conversion funnels, and figure out what makes BL fans in Bangkok, Manila, São Paulo, and beyond download the app and stay. You\'ll lead our existing growth team — a Director of Growth and 3–4 dedicated volunteers — giving them direction, structure, and accountability.
  • Metrics and reporting. You own the revenue dashboard. Conversion rates, ARPU, churn, token velocity, channel performance. When the CEO asks \"where are we,\" you have the answer.
  • Monetization experimentation. A/B testing on pricing, subscription conversion flows, ad placement, token purchase prompts, premium content gating. You run the experiments, read the data, and make calls.
  • Content-for-growth strategy. Working with the growth team to determine what content, partnerships, and community activations actually drive signups and paying conversions — not just engagement for its own sake.
  • Partnership operations. The CEO handles relationship-building and pitching with studios, actors, and potential distribution partners. You handle everything around that — identifying targets, preparing materials, managing follow-up, onboarding partners onto the platform, and making sure every partnership translates into measurable growth or revenue.

Requirements

  • You\'ve done this before — at a smaller scale. You\'ve run growth or monetization for an app, a platform, a creator brand, or a content business. Not at Netflix scale — at the scrappy, pre-Series A, \"figure it out and make it work\" scale. You\'ve dealt with subscription models, ad revenue, in-app purchases, or creator economies firsthand.
  • You understand the audience. BL fandom, Asian drama culture, fan communities, creator economies in Asia — you don\'t need a briefing on why fans in the Philippines stay up until 3am to watch a Thai BL premiere live. Ideally, you\'re part of this world or adjacent to it.
  • You\'re based in Southeast Asia. Thailand or the Philippines preferred, but we\'re open to anywhere in the region. You understand how fans in these markets spend money on content, what payment methods matter, and what growth channels actually work here. This isn\'t a role where US-market playbooks apply.
  • You can lead and structure a volunteer team. There\'s an existing growth team — a Director of Growth and 3–4 committed volunteers. They\'re good at execution but need strategic direction, prioritization, and someone who can turn enthusiasm into a coordinated growth plan. You know how to lead people who are there because they believe in the mission, not because they\'re getting a paycheck.
  • You\'re autonomous. The CEO doesn\'t micromanage. You\'ll have real ownership and real authority over growth and revenue. That means you also have real accountability. You\'re expected to own outcomes, not just activities.
  • You\'re startup-wired. You understand what equity compensation means. You\'re comfortable with ambiguity, resource constraints, and building something before the money shows up. Your current life circumstances allow you to work for equity in the near term, with salary kicking in as funding comes through.

Preferred

  • Experience in the BL, K-pop, K-drama, or Asian entertainment industry
  • Background in community-driven or creator economy platforms
  • Familiarity with Flutter/Firebase products, app store optimization, or social platform growth mechanics
  • Experience with Southeast Asian payment systems (GrabPay, GCash, PromptPay, etc.)
  • Multilingual (Thai, Filipino/Tagalog, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish are all valuable given our audience)
