Job Summary

Own the reputation-management function by turning global conversations into actionable risk insights, guiding doctrine-aligned messaging, and coordinating rapid-response efforts with stakeholders across media and public-facing channels.

  • Observability and risk governance: monitor conversations, analyze sentiment, and surface insights to steer strategic actions.
  • Strategic communications: draft and approve official statements, ensure tone and doctrine alignment, and manage media responses.
  • Stakeholder engagement and crisis readiness: maintain media relationships, coalitions, and cross-functional rapid-response capabilities.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strengthening trust and understanding of the Church worldwide
  • Anticipate and respond to reputation risks and opportunities
  • Build and manage strategic relationships that influence public perception
  • Represent the Church with clarity, accuracy, and Christlike tone in complex or sensitive situations
  • Oversee systems and strategies to monitor global conversation about the Church across media, social platforms, and emerging channels
  • Analyze sentiment, themes, risks, and opportunities; translate insights into actionable recommendations
  • Identify and track emerging issues, narratives, and misinformation trends
  • Lead drafting and approval processes for official Church statements, messaging, and media responses
  • Ensure responses reflect doctrine, tone, and leadership direction while addressing real-world concerns effectively
  • Coordinate rapid response efforts for issues, crises, and sensitive topics

Requirements

  • Degree in public relations, international relations, government affairs, political science and/or related field or experience.
  • Significant experience in public relations, communications, or reputation management; minimum 10 years relevant experience
  • Deep understanding of media ecosystems, digital platforms, and public discourse
  • Proven ability to draft high-level communications and represent an organization publicly
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • Position is in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Requires in-office attendance.

Preferred

  • Related graduate degree and/or experience
  • Experience with social listening tools, analytics, and digital strategy (SEO, content ecosystems)
  • Experience managing complex or global reputation issues
  • Familiarity with Church doctrine, structure, leadership, and communication tone
