Job Summary

Own end-to-end newsletter lifecycle from acquisition to monetization with a bias toward data-driven growth and AI-assisted planning, while upholding editorial quality and brand guardrails.

  • Lifecycle ownership: Build, optimize, and automate subscriber journeys across multiple brands and audiences.
  • Performance & governance: Measure engagement, retention, and revenue; run segmentation, personalization, and A/B testing to drive results.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Partner with editorial, AdOps, and leadership to ensure brand, audience needs, and business goals align, including monetization opportunities and AI output review.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize subscriber acquisition, engagement, retention, reactivation, and win-back programs across multiple newsletter audiences.
  • Develop lifecycle email journeys for different subscriber cohorts, brands, and audience segments.
  • Monitor newsletter and lifecycle performance, identify trends, and recommend ways to improve engagement, retention, and revenue opportunities.
  • Create and refine segmentation, personalization, behavioral targeting, and A/B testing strategies.
  • Partner with editorial, audience, marketing, AdOps, and executive stakeholders to align email programs with brand standards, audience needs, and business goals.
  • Support newsletter monetization by helping evaluate sponsorship performance, audience engagement, and campaign opportunities.
  • Use generative AI and AI-powered marketing tools to accelerate campaign planning, testing, analysis, reporting, and workflow efficiency while maintaining editorial judgment and quality standards.
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, brand alignment, compliance, and audience relevance before they are used in subscriber-facing work.
  • Present email performance insights and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, newsletter publishing, or audience development.
  • Experience managing email or newsletter programs at a meaningful scale, ideally with audiences of 100,000+ subscribers or across multiple brands, segments, or newsletter products.
  • Hands-on experience building lifecycle programs beyond one-off sends, including welcome series, onboarding, engagement, reactivation, win-back, preference-based journeys, or similar automated programs.
  • Experience using ESPs or marketing automation platforms such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, Marketo, Sailthru, or similar tools.
  • Skilled in segmentation, automation workflows, behavioral targeting, A/B testing, and performance analysis.
  • Able to translate email performance data into practical recommendations for improving subscriber growth, engagement, retention, and monetization.
  • Experience working with editorial, content, media, AdOps, or audience teams to support newsletter quality and business outcomes.
  • Strong writing and editing judgment, with the ability to evaluate copy, subject lines, CTAs, and campaign messaging for clarity, performance, and brand fit.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI to accelerate newsletter production, generate testing hypotheses, support audience growth initiatives, and synthesize performance insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Comfortable reviewing AI-generated outputs for accuracy, quality, compliance, and audience relevance before publication.
