Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own integrated publicity and media relations strategies that elevate Fortune’s editorial franchises, and its talent, conferences, commercial products, and advertising partnerships.
  • Partner closely with Fortune newsroom and editorial teams, marketing, Fortune lists and rankings, Fortune Live Media, Fortune Video, and sales teams to ensure PR campaigns are aligned with business objectives and brand positioning.
  • Come to the role with established strong relationships and contact lists with key (top tier) media outlets. Demonstrated track record of managing and growing a targeted media contact list and securing coverage in priority and or closely followed outlets.
  • Lead PR strategy and execution for company events (editorial and branded), including pre-event promotion, on-site press management, and post-event coverage.
  • Manage press attendance and engagement at all Fortune events and conferences, ensuring a seamless experience for journalists.
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage, industry trends, and competitive positioning; translate insights into actionable recommendations and regular reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Create and manage an annual PR roadmap, including budgets, timelines, measurement plans, and when needed oversight of external PR agencies.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, statements, and other external communications in Fortune’s editorial voice.
  • Proactively pitch Fortune’s editorial content, franchises, rankings, and leadership perspectives to print, digital, audio, and broadcast outlets.
  • Manage all press engagements and appearances for Fortune executives, from briefings and interviews to panels and broadcast opportunities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations roles, ideally within business journalism, media, or financial services.
  • Writes well, speaks well, has a sense of humor, and the ability to simplify complex topics and tailor messages for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across departments, and able to build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders and colleagues anywhere in the company and on a global basis.
  • Deep interest in global business, purpose-led companies, and leadership trends, with a strong news instinct and understanding of the media landscape.
  • Proven experience managing multi-channel media relations (online, broadcast and streaming video, and print), including a track record of securing high-impact coverage in A-level media, but as well in crucial tech-media-marketing trade media outlets.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and deliver against deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, including comfort using data and media analytics tools to inform strategy and measure impact.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality in all communications.
  • Experience overseeing external PR partners or agencies, and vendors such as PR Newswire and Getty Images, including budget and performance management.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, especially in time-sensitive or high-visibility moments.
